The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, said on Tuesday that nothing has changed in foreign policy and there is no pro-MAGA approach, considering that recently he seems to use the term pro-Western more often than pro-European.

Dan argues that nothing has changed in Romanian foreign policy in recent decades and that Romania has a stable strategic orientation, aligning its relations with the European Union, NATO, and the United States.

"Romania continues to have a European direction, with the United States, a correct attitude within NATO. Absolutely nothing has changed and it is not at all normal and productive to mix the internal political debate with this strategic debate. So the strategic orientation has not changed and there is no chance that in the future majority there will be anti-Western forces," said the president.

Within the "Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum," President Nicușor Dan highlighted the strategic importance of the Black Sea region and the Western Balkans, mentioning the current challenges and the need for collaboration among states with similar visions.

Romania contributes to NATO and European missions, supporting the rapprochement of Moldova and Ukraine with the European Union. The president emphasized that solidarity and investments in defense are essential to face current challenges, expressing optimism regarding future discussions within international formats.

"Romania's interest is in a strong Europe, NATO's interest is in a strong Europe, Europe's and Romania's interest is in a strong NATO. Romania's interest is for Europe, the United States, NATO to have a relationship as correct as possible on both sides. This is the answer. Regarding the pro-Western term, it encompasses, as the National Defense Strategy states, for example, but as Romanian foreign policy has stated for years, it integrates the three pillars of Romania's foreign policy: Europe, the United States, NATO," Dan added.
