President Nicușor Dan declared in Brussels that he hopes the Government proposed by designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu will receive the Parliament’s vote of confidence and begin its work. The head of state made the statements on the evening of October 16, after attending the European Council meeting.

Nicușor Dan specified that he wants the new Cabinet to pass the parliamentary vote and added that he hopes he will not have to criticize the new ministers after they take office. Asked whether he was satisfied with the government team proposed by the designated prime minister, the president replied that it was not necessary for him to be satisfied.

The president emphasized that Romanians want reforms and expressed his confidence that the future government will implement as many as possible of the measures demanded by society.

The proposed ministers are to be heard by the parliamentary committees on October 19 and 20. The vote on the investiture of the Niculescu Government is scheduled to take place in the plenary session of Parliament on the afternoon of October 20. The Cabinet’s approval will allow the new ministers to officially begin their mandates.
