President Nicușor Dan explained on Friday that the decision not to nominate Sorin Grindeanu for the position of prime minister was determined by the absence of a clear response from the parties regarding the parliamentary majority that would support the future Government. At the end of the EU - Western Balkans Summit, Dan emphasized that, although the PSD obtained the highest percentage in the parliamentary elections, it was not clear who would be part of the majority.
When asked if the PSD proposed a minority or single-color government, the president replied, "Supported by whom?" emphasizing that "there is no other logical pro-Western possibility that would also have a majority behind it." Nicușor Dan expressed optimism that all pro-Western forces would support the Tomac Cabinet in the investiture vote in Parliament. He also mentioned that the designated prime minister would discuss with the parties to obtain the necessary support.
