Mircea Abrudean, the president of the Romanian Senate, stated that there are no fears regarding a possible motion of censure against the magistrates' pension law, emphasizing that the Government has fulfilled its obligations. He mentioned that he does not believe that coalition parliamentarians would vote against their own Government on a matter supported by all. Regarding the milestone in the PNRR concerning special pensions, Abrudean said that the final decision will belong to the European Commission, but he emphasized the importance of meeting deadlines to avoid financial losses.
He also acknowledged the risk that the law may be challenged at the CCR, but stated that current opinions do not indicate constitutional issues. In the end, Abrudean emphasized that, in the event of a failure, someone will have to take responsibility, praising Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan for his initiative.
