The President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, argues that the PSD must take responsibility in the event that Romania is penalized or loses European funds as a result of changes made to certain legislative projects in Parliament.

Abrudean states that, for the PNL, the main goal has been "the fulfillment of the milestones in the PNRR, protecting investments, and avoiding the loss of European funds." In the case of the Integrity Law, the President of the Senate says that the PNL will support the verification of the normative act from a constitutional point of view, so that the law is "in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution" and allows for the fulfillment of the milestone in the PNRR.

Regarding the decarbonization law of the energy sector, Abrudean asserts that the PNL has "used all available parliamentary tools" to ensure that the normative act is adopted in a form that is "in accordance with Romania's interests" and allows for the fulfillment of the commitments made through the PNRR. He specifies that the liberals voted for the adoption of the law, but believe that the final form was significantly modified by the amendments supported by the PSD.

In this context, Abrudean warns that if the legislative changes lead to penalties or the non-awarding of European funds, the PSD will have to take responsibility for the consequences. His statements come amid disputes between the coalition parties regarding changes made to normative acts related to the PNRR milestones.
