Marius Lazurca, about a possible appointment to the head of the secret services: "I can neither confirm nor deny this speculation"

Marius Lazurca, national security advisor, stated that he cannot confirm or deny whether President Nicușor Dan proposed the leadership of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) or the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE). In an interview, Lazurca emphasized that a diplomat must be available for the president in any circumstance. He also avoided commenting on media speculation, mentioning that he has other priorities.

Marius Lazurca was appointed presidential advisor in October 2025 and was Romania's ambassador to Mexico. Nicușor Dan announced that he will appoint the heads of SRI and SIE by the end of the year, wanting to avoid political tensions.
