Context: The former presidential adviser said that the intelligence services assured Nicușor Dan that the PSD is “in it for the long haul” and that “Ionescu is secretly running the SRI”
Ludovic Orban’s statements that upset the SRI were made Tuesday evening on the TVR1 program Dezacoduri de pace, hosted by Dana Chera. Before the passage in which he referred to the intelligence services, Ludovic Orban said that President Nicușor Dan allegedly had an understanding with the PSD, under which the Social Democrats would support him in the next presidential election, while in return they received the governing coalition.
“Dana Chera: But why does the president believe he can trust the PSD, assuming that this would be the president’s plan, for the PSD to support him?
Ludovic Orban: Because the services probably assured him that the PSD would be a party in it for the long haul, which would honor its agreements with Nicușor.
Dana Chera: Wow! Which services?
Ludovic Orban: Both. The SPP and the SRI.
Dana Chera: Meaning Mr. Ionescu from the SRI and Mr. Pahonțu from the SPP?
Ludovic Orban: The unknown Mr. Ionescu, who is secretly running the SRI.
Dana Chera: So, basically, Pahonțu and Ionescu assured Nicușor Dan, you are saying, that the PSD is a trustworthy partner who can support him in becoming president for a second term?
Ludovic Orban: That is what I believe. That is what I believe,” the dialogue from the TVR1 program Dezacoduri de pace, hosted by Dana Chera
