Marcel Ciolacu, re-elected president of the PSD, proposes amending the Constitution to bring the term of office of local elected representatives to 5 years, the same as that of the president.

Ciolacu believes that there should be a concordance between the length of the mandates of the different elected representatives and mentioned that it is necessary to either extend the mandate of local elected representatives to 5 years or shorten the mandate of the President to 4 years. He also emphasized that the reduction in the number of parliamentarians will automatically intervene with the decrease in population, according to a law that must be respected.
