Marcel Ciolacu, the president of the Buzău County Council, announced the initiation of an external audit to evaluate the organizational charts of the institution and its subordinates. The goal is to create leaner organizational charts, which could lead to layoffs. Ciolacu emphasized that Buzău County could become a pilot county for administrative-territorial reorganization. He mentioned that the current structures are too cumbersome and that efficiency in absorbing European funds needs to be improved. He also highlighted the lack of coherence in managing funds at the level of the County Council and its subordinates, including in the cultural sector. Ciolacu was elected president of the Buzău County Council in December 2025, following the departure of former president Lucian Romașcanu to the European Court of Auditors.
