Kelemen Hunor, the president of UDMR, emphasized the importance of Romania not remaining passive in the face of global changes, criticizing the lack of direction in the country's foreign policy. He stated that Romania aligns itself with the positions of others and does not chart its own course, which makes it vulnerable. Hunor stressed that we must give up illusions and accept the international reality, proposing a foreign policy based on fundamental values.
He suggested prioritizing relations with Poland, Finland, and Turkey, as well as an active presence in the Western Balkans. He also highlighted Romania's geographical role as a "bridge" between the Middle East and the Caucasus. Hunor encouraged building strong alliances and emphasized that Romania must act as an initiator of reforms in the European Union, considering that large states impose their interests to the detriment of smaller ones.
