On Tuesday evening, on TVR Info, the leader of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, discussed the proposal of the designated prime minister, Eugen Tomac, to form a technocratic government. Kelemen emphasized that this approach represents an attempt to avoid Parliament and to govern without its support, which contradicts the principles of parliamentary democracy. He highlighted that by coming up with a technocratic government, Tomac sends a message of distrust in Parliament and in parliamentarians. Kelemen mentioned that in a parliamentary democracy, the government must have support from Parliament, and a technocratic government would require a different approach, such as a technocratic prime minister with a political government.
"So, he is a politician and wants to come before Parliament with a technocratic government. Now we are not discussing whether the designated ministers come or do not come from certain areas. This means that you put Parliament in parentheses. From our point of view, it is an attempt to avoid Parliament, to govern without Parliament. This means putting parliamentary democracy in parentheses, which is not okay, because what is the message if you come, a politician with a technocratic government - that you do not trust Parliament, in parliamentarians," Kelemen Hunor stated on Tuesday evening, on TVR Info.
