Deputy Iosif Jianu announced that, starting May 20, he will resign from the parliamentary group of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and will join the National Liberal Party (PNL). Elected on the S.O.S Romania lists in electoral constituency no. 18 Galați, Jianu stated that his decision is a "assumed" one and is motivated by the desire to contribute to the stability and European path of Romania. On Facebook, he specified that he was not a member of the PSD, but merely a deputy affiliated with the group, having a collaboration based on projects and responsibility towards citizens.

Iosif Jianu is in his first term in Parliament, having a short political experience, after resigning from S.O.S Romania and joining the PSD a year later. This move underscores the political changes in Romania ahead of the parliamentary elections in 2024.
