The president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, expressed regret regarding the situation in which Irina Ponta, the daughter of former Prime Minister Victor Ponta, found herself, as she was not allowed to return to Romania from Dubai. Grindeanu stated that he was outraged by what happened and called on Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to send the Control Body to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify the circumstances of the incident. He emphasized that he does not wish to politicize the situation, considering that it involves a child, and mentioned that he has communicated with Irina's parents.
Grindeanu requested hearings in Parliament for Foreign Minister Oana Ţoiu and the consul of Romania in Dubai, highlighting the importance of quickly clarifying the situation for Romanians. The incident was triggered by accusations from the former Prime Minister and his ex-wife, who claimed that Oana Ţoiu's intervention prevented the repatriation of their daughter.
