Sorin Grindeanu, the leader of PSD, explained the reasons why his party did not form an alliance with AUR in the negotiations for the formation of the government. Grindeanu emphasized that the main obstacle is the lack of trust in George Simion, the leader of AUR. Additionally, Grindeanu accused AUR of contributing to the maintenance of Ilie Bolojan at the Victoria Palace, considering that AUR did not vote for the Veștea government. In response, George Simion stated that AUR would accept collaboration with PSD, but demands the leadership of the Senate as a primary condition. Grindeanu rejected the accusations that PSD is trying to impose on AUR how to vote, emphasizing that the decision not to vote for the Veștea government was AUR's, and the consequences of this are evident.

"AUR has left the room, AUR is the one that continues to keep Bolojan in office. Allow me not to trust at all what Simion says, not at all, at all. I have nothing against AUR, I have nothing against the voters, I have nothing against the party, to be very clear, I do not believe what Simion says. Simion can say something today at 9:30 and at 10 says something else," said Sorin Grindeanu on Monday evening, on Romania TV.
