The leader of AUR, George Simion, announced that he will contest the state budget law for 2026 at the Constitutional Court, accusing the governing coalition of a lack of fiscal responsibility and neglecting social issues.
Simion stated that the budget law has a negative impact on families and mothers, mentioning the possible reduction of maternity leave from two years to one year, which could discourage future mothers.
"We have a party in the coalition that has refused to deliver what it promised in this budget, to no longer charge CASS to mothers. It is shameful how Romanian citizens are kept with aid given from time to time, instead of respecting the law. We voted for all the amendments made to the budget law of Romania," said the AUR leader.
AUR announced that it will contest the law at the Constitutional Court, emphasizing that the government's priorities are misguided in directing public resources.
Simion stated that Romania is not progressing and that there is a need for a focus on projects that protect vulnerable people and generate prosperity.
We remind that the Parliament approved the budget with 319 votes in favor, 104 against, and one abstention.
