The president of AUR, George Simion, criticized the decision of the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) to approve the request from the USA for the deployment of refueling planes and military equipment in Romania. In a speech in Parliament, Simion stated that this decision was "made on the knee" and that it affects the destiny of the Romanian nation. He emphasized that AUR takes and maintains an oath to the Romanian people and will not support measures coming from political entities that it considers unreliable.

Simion mentioned that only a limited number of parliamentarians consulted the classified documents related to this decision and called for a risk analysis in the context of terrorist threats. He also sent a message to the US ambassador, reaffirming the importance of the strategic partnership, but emphasizing the responsibility to protect Romanian citizens from security risks.
