George Simion, the leader of AUR, stated in a broadcast that the presidency of the Senate should return to his party, emphasizing that the current governing coalition is in "deep trouble" due to the actions of Nicușor Dan.
Simion explained that, in the event that Nicușor Dan is suspended, AUR could take over the Senate, and a party leader would become the interim president of Romania. He emphasized that AUR deserves this position, but not in the context of installing a new government led by Veștea.
Simion acknowledged the fears of the governing parties, which are concerned about a potential suspension and the impact it would have on political stability. Currently, the position of president of the Senate is held by Mircea Abrudean, a member of PNL.
