Eugen Tomac left "believer" after negotiations with PNL: The cabinet list will be finalized by Wednesday at the latest / It will be based on specialists, with a good reputation, without party membership.

The designated Prime Minister, Eugen Tomac, left the PNL headquarters on Monday "confident", where he presented his objectives in the hope of gaining the support of the liberals in Parliament, but emphasized that "they will follow to establish the position they will express". At the same time, regarding the possible composition of his cabinet, Tomac emphasized that the list will be finalized by Wednesday at the latest, while at this moment he has two to three options for each ministry.

Main statements of the designated Prime Minister:

I presented my objectives for the cabinet I will propose. These are objectives that stem from Romania's priorities. Unfortunately, time is pressing us. The international context is extremely tense, we have urgent commitments from Romania, the PNRR, the milestones, the obligation to fulfill the necessary reforms for Romania to be able to take its money from the EU. The last payment request is on September 30.

We must be prepared this autumn for the first draw from the SAFE program. We have the obligation to prepare the future budget and I have great hope for a fair judgment, in line with the expectations of Romanians, in PNL, to give me a vote of confidence. The pressure is high, the responsibility towards Romanians is enormous and I want the parties to give me the chance to provide a competent, well-prepared government. I have had dozens of meetings with many people, I am trying to form a team of well-prepared individuals, I want to go to Parliament with a government of professionals, technical, not political. We must be realistic at the same time, taking into account the realities.

The list is not yet finalized. I want to have two to three proposals for each ministry, and the proposed minister to Parliament to be my decision. For some, it has been concluded, for a few ministries, I will finalize it by Wednesday at the latest.

Will there be any minister with political affiliation?

It will be a technical government based on specialists, with a good reputation, without party membership.

I had a very good discussion with PNL, the Prime Minister presented me his point of view regarding the risks of Romania, on many points I agree. I leave confident. They will follow to establish the position they will express.

We remind you that on Monday the designated Prime Minister started negotiations with parliamentary parties to secure support for his cabinet in Parliament. The first discussions were with the liberals at 11:00, followed by Tomac going to discussions with USR at 14:00, and with PSD from 17:00.
