The EU ambassador in Tbilisi has warned that Georgia's relations with the EU could suffer, including sanctions, if the country moves away from democracy.

Pawel Herczynski has warned that the EU could impose sanctions on Georgia if the October 26 parliamentary elections are not deemed free and fair. Relations between the EU and Georgia were strained after the Georgian ruling party imposed a law on 'foreign agents'.
