The general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, stated that the budget of Bucharest is in a critical situation, with only 5 million lei remaining after all payments and subsidies have been made. In an interview with Euronews Romania, Ciucu emphasized that Bucharest does not manage its finances alone, but depends on the support of the Government. He mentioned that, after receiving 317 million lei, the available financial resources are extremely limited, which affects the Municipality's ability to implement essential projects for the city. This situation raises questions about the long-term financial sustainability of the Capital.

"Bucharest does not manage its finances alone, we do not have this flexibility, this minimal competence. We are dependent on the Government. We received 317 million. After making all the payments and partially paying the subsidy, which we could not pay fully, regarding STB and heating, Termonegetica, at this moment, keep in mind, we have about 5 million lei left in the budget of the Capital Municipality. It is very likely and necessary to increase the fare for STB. I am in a position to make many structural reforms. Some are tough. Mergers, restructurings, closures of companies, administrations, public institutions," said the general mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, on Thursday evening, at Euronews Romania.
