The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced on Facebook on Tuesday that the Bucharest Transport Company (STB) has submitted a new insolvency request, accompanied by new verified binders.

Ciucu emphasized that the future of public transport and the financial stability of the Bucharest Municipality must not be jeopardized. He expressed hope that this time the request will be accepted, considering that in August, the court rejected a similar request due to a lack of documents. The mayor mentioned that he discussed with the STB management, ensuring that all necessary documents were submitted correctly.

On July 21, the General Council of Bucharest Municipality mandated STB to request the initiation of insolvency proceedings, and Ciucu warned that the financial situation of STB is so serious that it could affect the payment capacity of the Municipality. The mayor announced a press conference to discuss the structural issues of Bucharest.
