Ciprian Ciucu, the general mayor of the Capital, will remain under judicial control until October 15, 2026, according to the decision of the Bucharest Tribunal, which rejected his appeal against the judicial measure. The court upheld the imposed obligations, including the prohibition of leaving Romania without the prosecutor's consent and the restriction of contacting certain individuals. The appeal was made following a DNA ordinance from August 12, which extended the judicial control by 60 days. Ciucu stated that he will continue to contest this measure, emphasizing that his action does not imply an admission of guilt.
He is being investigated for bribery in connection with obtaining a zoning certificate and a building permit for a real estate project, being accused of receiving undue benefits to support his political activity.
