USR Maramureș MP Brian Cristian says that artificial intelligence tools have become part of the daily work of numerous lawmakers and proposes introducing additional criteria for evaluating elected officials.

In an interview with Mediafax, the lawmaker said that “many MPs are already using AI almost entirely,” including to draft documents and prepare their legislative work. He considers it possible that some bills submitted to Parliament were drafted with the help of tools such as ChatGPT, but says that what matters is the quality of the final text, not the method used to draft it.

Brian Cristian also supported “the introduction of psychological and drug testing when taking office,” both for members of Parliament and for other elected officials. The statement comes amid a discussion about politicians’ conduct and public image.

The MP also spoke about a possible candidacy for Baia Mare City Hall. Among the first measures under consideration are stricter urban planning rules, combating illegal construction and eliminating bribes for building permits. He also emphasized the importance of young people’s involvement in politics and public administration.
