Ilie Bolojan, about the tensions in the governing coalition: "Things seem to be heading in the direction of escalation. It is possible that we will have a crisis in the near future."

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that Romania could face a political crisis in the near future, in the context of tensions with the PSD.

He emphasized that the serious problems the country is facing will not be resolved by the departure of a minister or a prime minister:

"It is possible that we will have a crisis in the near future, that is the situation, but the real problem is the following: one person, one minister, one prime minister can leave, the problem we have is that the serious issues that have led us to this situation require solutions. They do not disappear if one person or another leaves".

Bolojan mentioned that discussions within the coalition are taking place in a reasonable manner, but that public attacks escalate tensions. He also warned that Romania does not need a minority government, considering the current economic and social challenges.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for political stability to address issues related to the absorption of European funds and investment:

"Because the decisions we need to make in the near future, related to the absorption of European funds, related to the investments we need to make, to the milestones we need to achieve, require a stable government, to have people who focus all their energy on solving these problems. Otherwise, in the summer, we will discuss who is responsible for the money that Romania has lost from the PNRR".

Regarding the possible withdrawal of the PSD from the government, Bolojan stated that any party can act constitutionally if it is not satisfied with the situation:

"Any party in the coalition, if it believes that it is not satisfied with what is happening, can act constitutionally or politically, introducing motions of censure, withdrawing its ministers".
