Starting July 1, 2025, an emergency ordinance will limit bonuses for harmful conditions to 300 lei gross per month, in the context of reducing the budget deficit. The measure, valid until the end of 2026, affects all categories of budgetary staff and will save 1.35 billion lei. Unions are contesting the decision, warning that it will lead to significant wage losses and possible migration of staff from essential areas. Instead, the government will offer 3-5 extra days of vacation, a reduction from previous years.
