The Ministry of Health has announced a new regulation regarding the payment of on-call duties performed in hospitals, which will be differentiated based on specific activity.

There will be three categories of guards: emergency guard, which will be paid accordingly, monitoring guard, which will have a fair payment, and home guard, which currently does not receive financial compensation. Rogobete emphasized the current injustice, exemplifying with the case of interventional radiologists who are underpaid for emergency interventions. This measure is a first step towards a differentiated payment for staff in the public health system, considering that there are state hospitals that do not perform surgical interventions, but which pay salaries and guards the same as crowded units.
