Romanian Waters announces that operational technologies have not been affected by the ransomware cyber attack and essential activities continue normally.

The National Administration 'Apele Române' has confirmed that the operational technologies (OT) were not affected by the ransomware cyber incident reported on December 20. The institution assured that there is no impact on essential activities and that the dispatch centers and the operation of hydraulic structures are functioning within normal parameters, using telephone and radio communications.

An action plan has been adopted to restore the IT systems, and the investigation is ongoing, without knowing yet how the attackers penetrated the network. The National Cyber Security Directorate reported that approximately 1,000 IT&C systems have been compromised, but the 'Apele Române' Administration continues to collaborate with the authorities to limit the impact and ensure the security of informational processes.
