Former president Traian Băsescu criticized political parties for their attempts to influence the nominations for the leadership of SRI and SIE, emphasizing that the president has the right to make these choices without external interference. Băsescu explained that, as president, he appointed a head of service from PSD of his own accord, to demonstrate that he would not use the SRI against the opposition.
He emphasized the importance of formalizing the vote in Parliament to strengthen the position of the nomination. Additionally, Băsescu recommended the current mayor Nicușor Dan not to negotiate with the parties, but to proceed directly with the nominations, considering the lack of a majority in Parliament. Nicușor Dan mentioned that the nominations could be made in the coming weeks.
