Petrișor Peiu, the leader of the AUR senators, stated that the political crisis in Romania is deeper than anticipated and will continue until 2028 or until early elections, which are now more possible than ever.
He emphasized that Romanian politics needs clarity, depth, and honesty, mentioning that political majorities can only be punctual and transparent. Peiu criticized old political practices, such as backroom deals and vote buying, and warned that without early elections, majorities will be short-lived, with limited objectives.
He also mentioned that parties that ignore the opposition risk losing not only future elections but also their democratic credibility. These statements come in the context of the rejection of the Adrian Veștea government by Parliament, in which AUR did not participate in the vote.
