The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) announced that it will notify the Constitutional Court regarding the Law on the payment of private pensions, adopted by the Chamber of Deputies. AUR claims that this law represents an attempt to "steal" the savings of Romanians from pillars II and III, accusing the Bolojan Government of insidious intentions. According to AUR, the legislative project favors pension fund administrators, who will collect commissions, and the Romanian state, which thus secures financial resources.
AUR states that the pension system has functioned for almost two decades with clear rules, and recent changes undermine the trust of Romanians and illegitimately control their money. The adopted law stipulates that individuals withdrawing money from Pillar 2 will initially receive only 30% of the amount, the rest being staggered over a period of eight years, with the exception of cancer patients who can withdraw the entire amount. AUR believes that these measures reduce Romanians' control over their savings and create a dangerous precedent.
