Adrian Veștea refuses to submit his mandate as designated prime minister, despite the PNL's decision not to support his government.

The designated Prime Minister Adrian Veștea reacted after Ilie Bolojan, the leader of PNL, announced that the party will not support a government led by him.

Veștea stated that he will not resign, emphasizing that Romania needs stability and a functional government. He rejected the idea that his appointment would be a challenge to the PNL leadership, explaining that he accepted the responsibility in good faith. Veștea ruled out the option of a minority executive, considering that the current political context requires a stable governmental formula.

He also emphasized that Romania's interest must prevail over political tensions. PNL decided, through an internal vote, not to support the government proposed by Veștea, asking him to resign by Tuesday morning.

In response, Veștea stated that he will continue the process of forming the government.
