In the campaign for the presidential elections of 2025, Adrian Veștea, proposed by the president as prime minister, launched harsh attacks against Nicușor Dan, the candidate at that time. Veștea stated that Nicușor Dan is not capable of building, but only of hindering development, comparing him to a child who destroys a sandcastle. His clip, in which he claims that Nicușor Dan has not brought any major project to Bucharest and that he is just an activist who blocks initiatives, went viral on social media.

The clip is from last year's electoral campaign when Nicușor Dan announced his candidacy for the presidency following the annulment of the elections in December 2024. In the first round of the presidential elections of 2025, PNL and PSD supported a common candidate, Crin Antonescu, after they had their own candidates - Nicolae Ciucă and Marcel Ciolacu - in the first round of the elections annulled in December 2024.
