AFJR warns that the legislative amendments proposed by the Government on 29.07.2025, which concern the service pensions of magistrates, do not address the correction of existing pensions, but change the conditions of retirement, which could lead to the resignation of more than 1,000 magistrates. The association underlines that recent reforms in the judiciary have led to an unacceptable regression, affecting the independence of the system. The AFJR also calls for the European principles on judges' pensions to be respected, which should be close to their current salaries, in order to prevent corruption and maintain confidence in the judiciary.
