WhatsApp Plus, a new subscription option, has started to become available for some iPhone users, just a few weeks after its debut in the testing phase.
The subscription, which costs 2.5 euros in Europe, offers users access to 18 color themes, 14 alternatives for the app icon, several packs of animated stickers, and 10 ringtones. A notable feature is the ability to pin up to 20 chats, instead of the 3 available in the standard version, facilitating quick access to important conversations.
WhatsApp Plus borrows the subscription idea from rival Telegram, focusing on cosmetic options, while basic features such as message encryption remain free for all over 3 billion users. The company is also testing another subscription that promises an ad-free experience. The availability of WhatsApp Plus will be expanded in the coming weeks.
