Romania has become part of the exclusive club of countries with next-generation quantum computing technology by bringing an IBM system to Iași, in a dedicated campus. This initiative will allow Romanian students to study a field considered the future of data processing. Martin Svik, IBM's vice president, emphasized that in Europe there is only one physical system in Spain and cloud access in Germany, making Romania an important player in this sector. Quantum computers can solve complex problems such as data security, medical research, and optimization of electrical networks. Additionally, quantum technology has applications in the defense sector, enabling the manipulation of drones in swarms and the development of more precise weapons. This technology is already present in the USA and Japan, and now also in Romania, providing a unique opportunity for future IT specialists.
