The consortium of SAP, Deutsche Telekom, Ionos and Schwarz is negotiating to build one of five EU-backed AI data centers, called AI gigafactories. The European Commission has earmarked €20bn for the project, which aims to close the technology gap with the US and China. Although German authorities have confirmed the construction of a center, the project faces challenges in sourcing chips and finding suitable locations. The deadline for applications is June 20.
