On Tuesday, a major outage affected access to numerous websites worldwide due to issues with the services provided by Cloudflare, a company that ensures security and performance for websites. The National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) confirmed on Facebook that, at 3:00 PM, several websites, including theirs, were still unavailable, although the issues were announced as being resolved. DNSC explained that Cloudflare operates as a reverse proxy, and the unavailability of its services can generate errors when accessing websites without indicating a problem with their infrastructure.
A technical analysis showed that the incident was caused by operational errors, not a cyber attack. Among the affected websites were the social networks X and Truth Social, Spotify, and various publications from Romania. Downdetector, a site that monitors technical issues, was also temporarily affected.
