The $135 million class action settlement allows Android users to receive compensation for the alleged unauthorized transmission of data by the Google operating system. This lawsuit, filed in 2020, claims that Android transferred data even when devices were inactive, thus consuming users' mobile data. Google has denied the allegations, but users who connected to the internet using Android devices between November 12, 2017, and the present may be eligible for payments. Those who do not opt out of the settlement will receive a personalized notification by mail or email. The amounts will depend on the total number of users requesting compensation, and approximately 100 million people could be eligible, which could lead to relatively small amounts for each. The settlement administrator will attempt to pay users who do not enter their payment information, but they risk not receiving anything if the attempts are unsuccessful.
