The European Court of Justice has confirmed the antitrust fine of 4.125 billion euros imposed on Google for abuse of dominant position on Android.

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has confirmed a record fine of 4.125 billion euros for Google, decided by the European Commission in 2018, for abusing its dominant position in relation to its Android operating system. Judges in Luxembourg rejected the company's appeal, thus ending a long legal battle.

The European Commission accused Google of illegally strengthening its dominance by offering Google Search to mobile phone manufacturers only bundled with other Google applications, paying them for its pre-installation as the sole search application. Following the appeal, the EU Court initially reduced the fine from 4.34 billion euros to 4.125 billion euros. The ECJ confirmed that these practices restrict competition, continuing the series of antitrust conflicts between the European Commission and Google.
