Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he is willing to organize elections in Ukraine, provided that the United States and allied partners ensure the necessary security for the voting process. Although Ukraine's supreme law prohibits elections during wartime, Zelensky stated that he will ask parliament to allow their organization even during the state of martial law. The vote could take place in 60-90 days if a ceasefire is reached with Russia. Zelensky has requested the help of the United States and European partners to guarantee the security of the elections, mentioning that the majority of Ukrainians are against organizing elections during the conflict. In the context of negotiations to end the war, Zelensky emphasized the importance of a fair agreement that does not disadvantage Ukraine. He also announced that Ukraine will present American partners with an improved peace plan, despite the difficulties in reaching a consensus on territorial control in Donbas.
