The authorities in Kiev reject reports that Zelensky intends to announce presidential elections and a referendum on a peace agreement with Russia. A source close to the president stated that until there is a stable security situation, there will be no announcements in this regard.

The initial information, published by the Financial Times, suggested that Zelensky could make an announcement on February 24, with elections scheduled before May 15. The simultaneous organization of elections and the referendum could ensure maximum representativeness of the will of the Ukrainian people, considering the historical high turnout in presidential elections.

Although public support for Zelensky remains significant, it has decreased due to war fatigue and corruption scandals. Zelensky stated that organizing elections is impossible under the current conditions of martial law and Russian occupation.
