Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, announced on Monday the appointment of Chrystia Freeland, former Deputy Prime Minister of Canada, as an advisor for economic development. Zelensky highlighted her experience in attracting investments, considering it essential for strengthening Ukraine's internal resilience. He emphasized that, in the current context, Ukraine must prepare both for economic recovery, in case diplomacy is successful, and for strengthening defense, in the event of delays from international partners. Chrystia Freeland, of Ukrainian descent, served as Deputy Prime Minister of Canada from 2019 to 2024 and is currently a member of the Canadian parliament, playing an active role in the relations between Canada and Ukraine.
