A 27-year-old woman from India reportedly committed suicide after an astrologer predicted problems in her marriage. The family had consulted the astrologer to prevent misunderstandings.

<p>A young IT specialist, Vidyajyoti, aged 27, was found dead by suicide in her home in Bengaluru, India. The police announced that she allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself, after her parents consulted an astrologer who predicted possible misunderstandings in her marriage, two years after the event. Although the families of the two lovers had given their consent for marriage, the astrologer recommended a nine-day ritual to prevent problems. On the ninth day of the ritual, Vidyajyoti retreated to her room and committed suicide, while her parents were not at home. The incident was discovered when her father broke down the door, finding her hanging.
