On December 4, 2025, Chinese President Xi Jinping received French President Emmanuel Macron in Beijing, where important discussions took place regarding bilateral relations. Xi stated that China is open to importing more products from France, while Macron requested a fair environment for Chinese enterprises in France. The two leaders signed agreements in the fields of energy, agriculture, education, and the environment, emphasizing the importance of a balanced relationship.

Macron sought China's help to contribute to ending the war in Ukraine, and Xi promised to support European efforts for a sustainable security framework. The trade tensions between the two countries were mentioned, especially in the context of the tariffs imposed by the EU on electric vehicles from China. Macron highlighted the need to address global trade imbalances and advocated for the opening of the Chinese market to European companies.

After the official meetings, the two leaders visited the panda breeding center in Chengdu, symbolizing the improvement of diplomatic relations. China and France agreed on a new agreement for panda protection, highlighting their commitment to cultural exchanges.
