The official White House account debuted on TikTok with a 27-second video promoting the message "America is BACK!", quickly attracting over 25,000 subscribers. However, TikTok, owned by ByteDance, remains under threat of a US ban unless the owner relinquishes control under a 2024 law. Politicians in both parties are concerned about China's use of data and the possible sway of US public opinion.
