WhatsApp, part of Meta, will introduce advertising in the News Feed tab, used by 1.5 billion users. This will include paid Channel subscriptions and in-Status ads, without disrupting personal conversations. User messages and calls will remain encrypted and personal data will not be used for advertising. Meta is looking to monetize the app, given its large user base, but did not specify a launch date for the new features.
