In Colombia, a drone attack on a police helicopter and an explosion in an explosives vehicle killed at least 17 people, including 12 policemen. President Gustavo Petro attributed the attacks to dissidents from the former FARC. The helicopter was on a mission to destroy coca crops and the explosion took place near a military aviation school. Coca leaf cultivation hit a record high in 2023, according to the UN.
