Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner-general of UNRWA, said the situation in Gaza is alarming, with people described as "walking corpses" and more than 100 international organizations warning of the risk of mass starvation. Israel, which controls deliveries to Gaza, blames Hamas for the malnutrition, but the UN emphasizes that humanitarian aid is insufficient. Lazzarini said many children are already weakened and at fatal risk, calling on Israel to allow unhindered humanitarian access.
