A law passed by the parliament in Kiev allows Ukrainians to hold citizenship of other countries, a measure aimed at tackling the demographic crisis exacerbated by the war with Russia. With an estimated 25 million diaspora, the decision aims to maintain ties with Ukrainians around the world. New legislation simplifies citizenship for children born abroad and those fighting on the front lines. The government will draw up a list of countries whose citizenships are accepted along with Ukrainian.
