Typhoon Podul lashed Taiwan's southeast coast with wind gusts of up to 191 km/h, causing power outages for 258 households and canceling 252 domestic and 129 international flights. Authorities evacuated more than 5,500 people ahead of the storm's arrival, and nine cities suspended school activities and classes. The typhoon is expected to continue towards the more densely populated west coast and bring heavy rainfall, with risks of landslides and flooding.
